I’ve spent the last 11 years at Grasshopper helping businesses of all shapes and sizes. I love it! I love getting involved with interesting online businesses, meeting and working closely with passionate owners who want to take the bull by the horns to make a better life for themselves and their families.
But there’s one thing that has been at the back of my mind that I haven’t quite been able put my finger on until now: my ability to help more people. I’ve always wanted to make better use of my time, my 20 years’ worth of experience and the knowledge I’ve gained in order to help people grow and improve their businesses.
Mistakes = Pure Gold
Believe me when I say that I’ve made my fair share of mistakes. I’ve launched products and services, failed at businesses, worked with clients to achieve ridiculous results and we’ve also had campaigns that haven’t quite gone to plan (yes, it happens).
In all of those experiences, I’ve hiked up some of the steepest learning curves, navigated some tricky times, and learned some highly valuable lessons that deserve to be shared. I believe that if shared my knowledge and experience with others, it could save them a lot of frustration, many late nights and fewer lost opportunities. Learning from other people’s mistakes is ‘pure gold’. Why not make the most of mine!
In the past, I’ve written a blog posts, been on podcasts, joined networking groups and been active in Facebook Groups and forums, but I know I could be doing more. So, with that in mind, I’ve decided to kick of a new venture (or adventure) with my good buddy, Paul Gully at Elevated Online.
Paul is an expert in all-things social media and web development – two areas that are not the focus here at Grasshopper (we focus more on SEO and paid advertising).
Paul and I met at a local networking group at the start of 2020 and have since worked on many client projects together. The combination of our areas of expertise complement each other well. We know each other’s businesses, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which makes us a great team.
Cue, our new ‘chin-waggery’ adventure
Paul and I have started a ‘vlog-cast’ (video channel to most people) called The Marketing Chinwag. As two down-to-earth, straight-talking marketers, we want to share our knowledge, experiences, deliver advice and help small and medium-sized businesses to grow, and grow profitably.
We run into business owners every day who are either lost as to the right way to market their business online or they are just stuck in a rut where they are doing the wrong things to move the needle.
Small businesses need fast results. They also need strategy and direction in plain English. We aim to provide advice on quick wins and long-term strategies for growth we know will actually work.
The Marketing Chinwag is an easy-to-watch break down of various digital marketing subjects that includes;
- Best SEO practices
- Common social media faux pas
- Effective web design to engage visitors
- Local SEO tips
- Increasing customer loyalty and spend
- Content marketing quick wins
- Networking (Online & Off-line)
- Driving leads through email marketing
- And loads more.
We also hope to have guests on the show who will touch on other business-related nuggets of information we feel is useful to our viewers.
